Loneliness
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Dr. Mary Pipher, wrote in her book, The Shelter of Each Other, "Real communities give people a sense that they are all in this place together. People who live together have something that is fragile and easily destroyed by a lack of civility. Everything you do matters. Relationships are not disposable....Over the internet, people can be deleted the second they become annoying or tiresome....One never needs to see or talk to anyone again." She goes on, "We've moved from primary to secondary relationships, appearance has become much more important to us." That was written in 1996.
Then, as now, as always, relationships are everything. Without them, loneliness devours. Pipher has an Irish Proverb at the beginning of her book that is most poignant, "It is in the shelter of each other that the people live."
